THE HAIGHT ASHBURY IS WHERE LAUREL LIVED, WORKED, AND CREATED HER FIRST ORIGINAL DESIGNS.
A single parent at 19, Laurel began handcrafting exquisite earrings and necklaces from old coins, bones, and beads to support her two young children Aarin and Juaquim. Laurel's unconventional approach to art and business resonated with the free-spirited ethos of the '60s and '70s; her creations became bridges to friendships and patrons. Collecting Laurel Burch became a cultural phenomenon.
